I used Expeditions Alaska. Carl Donohue runs a bunch of trips, everything from sea kayaking, northern lights, eagles, brown bears and pola bears. I did a trip with him last year to katmai and it was fantastic. Carl is an accomplished photographer and always gets you into the right position. I can’t recommend him enough.
One note, Fish and Wildlife will be implementing new rules for Barter Island in 2019. These will cover number of boats, guests, and how close you are able to get to the bears.
