I'm looking for as little of a sholder bag (not a backpack) that I can fit a Canon 5D3 no battery grip, a 100-400 canon and a Canon 24-135 lens. Thanks in advance.

Jay bird,

Does the 100-400 need to fit attached to the camera? Or does everything just need to fit unattached?

I prefer to have the 100-400 attached to the camera body. I appreciate your help, Thanks.

Add a 1.4X TC III to the 100-400 II into that mounted equation, please.

I was just discussing this yesterday, to the point of may need to make my own. I'm using a ThinkTank Turnstyle 20 right now to fit 6D2 + 100-400/II (mounted) and a 16-35/4. It works (snug, but works) with those two, but if I put on the TC ... no can do.

Turnstyle 30 (not a product offering yet) would do the trick, I think.

Think Tank Retrospective 20: https://www.thinktankphoto.com/collections/retrospective-series/products/retrospective-20

It will hold a 100-400 attached to a gripped body. Most messenger bags that will hold an attached 100-400 will be designed for a gripped body as well. Plus room for another lens.

https://store.lowepro.com/shoulder-bags/protactic-sh-200-aw

Same as above, will fit a gripped body attached to a 100-400, plus room for another lens.

Although a little large I find the Billingham Hadley Large Pro to be extremely easy to carry that combination with, with room to spare. Rather than be all jammed up with limited space I find the bag easy to use and access even with the belt buckle style top straps.

It'll easily hold much more if needed, lightweight, molds to your body and is weatherproof.

I have a lot of expensive bags. No matter what I spend or buy, I always come back to this one. It holds a 100 400 II on a 5DIV and I think I can put a 24 70 in there if that is about the size of the one you are wanting to add. Let me know the size and I'll check. I did buy and add some padding for inside it and I shove a second lens on the outside of the padding. This bag is really not that large and very handy for packing around.

This is the insert that I replaced it's padding with. It made it work for me with adequate protection.

I know my Lowepro Sling will hold the 100 400 mounted with the 1.4X. I will check that the 16 35 f4 can go in too and let you know.

Mine has a large silver monogram on each side. It looks better.

Slightly different question but related. I'm looking for as little of a bag as I can find for my "toss in the back of the truck" 80D with both kit lenses. Minimalist is best. Bought two now but still no joy.

Checked Kathy's link. Waaay too big. Don't care what it looks like, just if it works for me. (Well pink or red won't work. Doesn't match my outfit )

I'll keep looking but would appreciate advice.

Robert

Sorry for the delay, I've recently had surgery and had internet on my lap but couldn't get around until today. Yay for mobility. Yes, Rusty, it fits fine. Here is a shot with the 5DIV, 100 400 with the 1.4 III mounted, and the 16 35 f4 on to the side. Hope this helps. Honestly, I don't find this bag ugly, and with the added padding it has fit my needs perfectly for years. It is without doubt my first choice for grabbing when it's big enough. I can also fit in some cards, batteries, sunglasses and small wallet so just one bag and I'm done.

note: I also tried mounting the 16 35 and how the 100 400 with 1.4 would fit into the bag. If you use it reversed (one side unzips and is taller). With added padding on that end it does work fine to hold the larger lens inside the bag with the wide angle mounted on the camera in the bag also. Since I use the insert, I added a pad on the bottom of the area to the end and 2 pads to go around the body of the lens, providing them with protection. It all fits well and I will probably just leave it for future use. But normally I'm packing just my 40 mm pancake in a pocket of the bag on the side. I have many times stuck a 600 EXRT in the end. I just didn't bother padding it for just the light, I just kept it in it's case.

I was looking for a bag for the 100-400 mkii mounted, plus 16-35 and another smaller lens or two, but wanted lenscap down orientation in the nag, and ended up with an older Thinktank Urban Disguise 35, the newer version of which would work just as well. I like it quite a lot.

I wouldn't toss that Lowepro in the back of truck unless it was empty - they're minimally padded.

I have a 5DIV connected to the 100-400 that fits into my Think Tank Urban Disguise 40, V-1. There is a newer version out, so I can't speak to that, but the 40 gives me room for the body and 100-400 lens, a speedlight, the 16-35, and cards, batteries, etc. For me it's big enough, but not too big. I have a grip for the 5DIV which also fits, but I rarely use the grip.

You are right about that, they're minimally padded and maximize priced.
