Last month's competition was a runaway. In one of the most lopsided victories ever, dbehrens took the crown for the fifth time overall and second month in a row, with a whopping 31 points. He garnered 62% of the first place votes for this stunning image:

Canon DSLR using Canon EF mount lens is NOT alt.
Nikon DSLR using Nikon F mount lens is NOT alt.
Anything else IS alt, including all mirrorless systems.

2. Your entry must have been photographed during September, 2017 for this run.
3. Your submission must be posted by 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time, October 31, 2017 to be eligible.
4. One entry per user/month.
5. Your entry must contain your top 3 picks from the last competition. You may not vote for your own photo. The top vote gets 3 points, the runner-up gets 2 points, and the last vote gets 1 point. Please include a short explanation of the reasons for your top pick.

Congrats to Dave, Jordan and Phillip! Well deserved!

I would like to observe how landscape dominates the podium in our competition. Yet, delightful though it is, should we consider it the "only" form of eligible photography? I, for one, think not. I am not being negative or disparaging towards landscape, which I love, and which is superbly represented here, but... So, this month, and despite there being already first-class examples of landscape shots, I will vote for "other-than-landscapes" to show appreciation for great work. Just my $0.02.
Apologies to all who submitted landscape shots, and whose work is well deserving of my vote, were it not for my cranky rant.

Debated what to enter this month, I hesitate to post my family, but I loved this shot so decided to go ahead with it. I was shooting these flowers with a new (to me) Tamron Adaptall 300mm f/2.8 on an A7II. Switched to an E-M5 to see how it would fare on the smaller sensor and with a tighter crop. As luck would have it my daughter ran out to chase some butterflies right then. I knew what she was doing but didn't think I had the butterfly in the frame at 600mm equivalent. Got a bit lucky that the butterfly decided to stay in the plane of focus, but it all came together.

Spoilt for choice this month with trips all over Europe (ostensibly to visit our children) and to Morocco. However instead of waterfalls and landscapes I'm going for a shot from a new toy; this is a drone shot of Henninsvaer in the Lofoten Islands in Norway, at sunset.

Fantastic shot, but what drone are you using to lift an A7RII? I've only managed a NEX-5T. Or am I misunderstanding?

Thanks Matt. This is the Drone's (Mavic Pro) own 4k camera. It is an Alt right

Edit : my mistake - I was going to post an A7rii shot and forgot to change the Camera info. Amended !

It was my mistake Matt. See above. You can get 12MP shots from the camera, so sort of a flying A7s - it's very decent indeed but the video is even better.

Thanks - I took a similar shot of this scenery posted above with my film camera but decided to use the bit wider digital photo here for the monthly competition. For comparison, see the similar scene taken with 35 mm instead of 28 mm below with Ilford XP2 film. I was flipping back and forward which photo to use this month:
