The Sigma 135 isn't exactly cheap. As good as AF with adapted glass is getting, if the Sony 135 is a couple hundred bucks more expensive than the Sigma, I'd still be inclined to go native...assuming the optical quality is at the same level of course.

This would be total conjecture at this point. But If the previous GM vs the Art pricing is any indication, my hunch would be that the Sony FE will be at least 2k. Take for instance, the 85. Based on retail launch pricing, the GM is basically 50% more expensive. If you look at the 35 or 50, the difference is also roughly the same.

The Sigma 135 is outstanding and now got even better. Very hard to be patient.

+1 for my vote on the Sigma. My copy has astonished me since I got it in my hands.

I agree that it is rather large and heavy. But relative to other comparable lenses, I don't think the difference will be all that noticeable or burdensome especially after you see the performance firsthand.

Eh Sigma prices have gotten so high that it's not really reliable to use them as a benchmark of where the Sony prices will be. Sigma lenses are cheaper yes, but not as big of a bargain as they were several years back.

The Sigma 135 is quite a bit more expensive than the Canon and Nikon versions. Sony 12-24 is only $100 more expensive than the Sigma 12-24. Yes there are a lot of variables at play, but it's hard to predict Sony prices based on what Sigma is doing as they've taken their stuff slightly more upscale.

Generally 135mm lenses are cheaper than their 85mm equivalents though. The Sigma 135 is a bit of an exception.

Canon can't be happy about this.

Can we imagine how the situation would be after the A9r or A7r III is introduced? I still like their lenses though, especially now that they work better with the firmware update of the A9 or the future Sony bodies. Let's face it, Sony is still quite a bit behind in the FE lens lineup.

Which Canon lenses do you recommend for the A9?

Expand Flexible Spot and Lock On AF Expand Flexible Spot, do not seem to work with A Mount lenses.
Face Detect and Eye-AF work natively as well as tracking.

Not to concerned here. I do use these modes on the a99IIs, as the focus area is small.

Anyone else not having success with the MB V on the a9?

The MC-11 with the Canon 400 DO II + TCIII works well, but does not track to the edges in landscape, but does in portrait, like an A mount lens with the LA-EA3. Plus no Expand Flexible Spot or Lock-on AF Expand Flexible Spot.

At this rate, by the time Canon brings a FF mirrorless body to market I don't think anyone will care, as the people who are attracted to mirrorless cameras would have switched to Sony already and brought their Canon glass with them.

They need to put playmemories back on because all the apps I paid for from my old A7Rii are not there!
And SLog. Hahaha

I am referring more to the long end of Canon lenses. Except for the GM 100-400mm lens, Sony doesn't offer anything else long than 300mm and that's only in a zoom lens.

Probably, you misunderstood my post. I wasn't referring to any Canon cameras, DSLRs or otherwise, at all.

I don't have an A9 and hope this improvement will trickle down to the A7RII as well.

I am with you hoping Sony brings this new magic to our beloved 42MP monster
And count me as another vote for you getting the Sigma 135mm Art !

+1, this is exactly what my previous joke post all about and I am just kidding (not). I still have all canon L prime with me, would be a nice and easy EF to FE label transition while upgrading my sony bodies.

I will give it a shot here , maybe it will make us a better photographer?

All kidding aside, it sounds like an improvement in the JPG rendition; who knows to what extent and in what way.

I may pick up the 135mm f/1.8 ZA Lens now. It's a steal at current used prices.
Unless this lens requires the LA-EA4...

Oh know. Please don't tell me that. On the other hand, I am sure I have room for one more 135mm. Last I looked I don't own any F1.8, 135's
