Sweet, thanks. I somehow overlooked this page before...

I've read (from Bastian and others) that the Voigtlander vm-e close-focus adapter doesn't allow infinity with the vm 35/1.7. I reaaally want this feature as it's a key aspect of my style of shooting. Not sure if they have been tested for infinity but I have two knock-off vm-e adapters coming soon from eBay. One is a Leinox branded and the other is supposedly unbranded. Both were around $50.

It doesn't allow infinity focus with the 5m filter attached. Without a filter infinity works fine.
With ZM lenses you can usually remove shims so that they work with filter attached.

I have both the Voigtlander VM E and the Hawks Family version 3. The Hawks family has more flexibility for infinity focus than the VM E does in my experience.

So does the Hawks reach infinity with the CV35 + 5m?

Not sure the Hawks would work , it did not on the ZM 35 without taking shims out .

I would buy the one I posted as I still have plenty of room for infinity.

I'll post the link again but it may work for a variety of lens without shim removal. I just got it so I have not tested it on other lenss but I got a feeling it would work on many.

Btw my FE 35mm shots are off on the last test. Somehow I missed focus on manual. I'm looking into redoing that test. I have a excellent copy of the FE but it may have been more me than lens. I tested it last night in the house and it's fine. The Cv still beats it on center so that has not changed

Actually the CV 35 is rivaling the CV 65 APO it's that close on center

Here you have some comparisons, 4 35mm lenses, 2 of them with and without 5m filter:

Very thorough comparison, Bastian!

It seems I like the Loxia much more than you do, even up against the other lenses it is better for my needs.

When I compute the price of the lens (mine was $700 used!), the outstanding close-focusing, electronic connection including magnification, focusing at actual aperture without shift, small overall size, and finally its "character", the Loxia is the easy choice for me over the others. Where you might not be inclined toward the electronics end of things, I'm not inclined toward attachment devices in front or behind the lens.

The Loxia is certainly no technical or clinical lens. Someone wishing for lack of aberrations or wide-open tack sharpness will be sadly disappointed. Shooting mostly between f/5.6-11 as I normally do, hand held, this lens really shines for me and has outstanding focusing for precision adjustment with perfect dampening.

Thanks Guy - can we get a quick snap of the 35/1.7 + 5mPCX attached to the front?

Glad to hear that lens and adapter worked out well for you

Has anybody else tested a K&F adapter with CV35 and 5m filter? I am a bit surprised that your experience is so similar to mine and Fred had two copies which did not reach infinity.

It could be different batches. I just received another K&F adapter and will test it when my new 5m front-lens arrives.
I also sent Haruhiko pictures of the lens so he can run the simulation on it and hopefully confirm that 5m is really optimal for it.

I think it could be slightly stronger still. Corners are really good but love to see a touch more. But the center and midframe are flat out outstanding.
I'm actually pretty darn pleased but if I could squeak a touch more with one that may get the corners more I would buy it.

It's beating my FE 35 on center and midframe even more so as far as detail . Corners are better on the FE wider than F5.6 but the Cv does catch up at F5.6 or so. Really pixel peeping here

I also tried facing the curve in instead of out and it maybe a flip of the coin. Really hard to tell runners no a test for both ways. I would prefer it being out though. Makes it fit the mount better on the flat side

The reason I suspected this lens could benefit from a different front-lens strength is because @sebboh noted and posted samples showing that the CV 35/1.7 Ultron works noticeably better on a Kolari modded camera.
Perhaps 5m is optimal and we should know for sure very soon.
