p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · 99.98% Eclipse from Marcola Oregon

Here are my pictures from that eventful Monday. I didn't travel to totality like so many other people because I wanted to focus more on the how the light effected the wold around us and because I wanted to avoid the hordes of people. Instead I picked this secluded spot above the Willamette Valley (about 1800') that was around 10 miles south of the path of totality. Every thing happened REALLY fast when it came down to the main event. The shadow swept across my hill in a dark flash and was gone again within 10 seconds. I managed to take 4-5 shots with my wide angle and 1-2 less then perfect shots with a telephoto. I managed to get what In really wanted with the wide angle which was the shadow of the eclipse stretching out over the valley. It was looking west though instead of east since the only thing visible to the east was smoke.

This was an amazing and eye opening experience for me. Next time (and there will be a next time!) I am doing whatever it takes travel to totality. There are a few photos that came out of the Jeffereson wilderness area are jaw dropping...and they captured everything I was after... I was surprised to see them however since I thought that that area was closed.
