Lots of clouds today in Central IL, so that affected the exposure time, but the Thousand Oaks sheet filter I got from Amazon worked very well. I jerry-rigged a holder for it using a bit of foam and two sheets of corrugated cardboard.

I plan to stack my many ND filters. How many would be enough? x8, x16, x24?

Just starting to read the thread...
Someone will probably already say this,
ND filters don't block the IR, nor UV.
I bought Thousand Oaks solar film, and rubber banded it on the FRONT of my lens.

My rig:
Panasonic GH5
the BEST FD/m43 adapter -
Canon FD extender 2X-A
Canon FD 500/4.5L

I need to work on the focus...

thanks buggz. my filter got here last wed. so i've only had a few days practice, i'm trying. i was reading some info on shooting the sun. the article stated i was better to manually focus the sun. i use the spots as a focus point. i shot a short video and noticed that the edge shimmers a lot. so i stopped auto focusing on the edge and went manual on the sun spots.
