I keep hearing about the Sony 55 f1.8 and have read reviews from even the toughest critiques who say this lens is incredible and worth every penny. Nothing but the highest praise - and have it on my wish list.

I've seen it going for more around $640 range so it's getting more affordable.

I think the Sony 85mm f1.8 sounds like a great lens and value. I use that range a lot.

Thanks everyone for your help,
I just ordered the Zeiss 55mm on EBay. It's very expensive for such a banal focal but by looking at the images on Flickr, I got sold, all the images are excellent, like the lens is not allowing anyone making bad pictures, besting anyone photos. I gave up on buying a brand new sony 85mm to get this used Zeiss. I cross my fingers that was the right choice

I was going to mention the Samyang / Rokinon 85 1.4 native E mount lens. Sharp, low priced, works great. It is manual focus. Focus peaking at 1.4 is a piece of cake since only one or two spots light up.

Enjoy the lens, if you don't like it, you wont lose much (anything) and at least you will know.

I love them both so start saving for the 85 too!

HAHA I already do, My wife is going to kill me if I don't stop buying expensive gears without making any money with it.
I'm thinking I'm translating our best memories into unforgettable beautiful images, worth the price if I know how to use my gear well
