The wildflowers were in floom bloom a few weeks ago near Three Fingered Jack. This was my first backpacking trip since moving to Bend and it paid off! The smoke from nearby wildfires had eased off some, but still provided a bit of colorful light. Enjoy and C&C is appreciated!

Like #1 the best with the stream leading you into the scene.
The second one looks a bit too warm, especially compared to 1 & 3
The 3rd one is nice, but is not as complete as the 1st

Thanks for posting

I'm thinking that the third is the one for me, it looks like you got lower to the flowers and they stand out better, the sky in the first is great but I'm all for the third.

That second one looks like it's got bleed from the clouds to me, not sure though.

Fun time I'm sure!

Just my two cents worth.

Lynn

Hi Dan - Thanks for the comments. The actual color of the scene was more along the lines of #2. The color you seen in the clouds was also directly overhead of the camera with a very warm glow all around. In the first image I used selective warmth to cool down the foreground. It was my first time shooting wildflowers and still learning lots on how to effectively compose them into a scene.

Hi Lynn - thanks for the comments. I agree with you on enjoying the point of view being better on the 3rd. The flowers were a bit difficult to shoot as even a slight breeze made them difficult to catch. Most of these were shot with a higher ISO to keep the SS a bit quick. The second image was the most true to the eye, as you were right, the clouds above gave the entire scene a warm/pink hue.

That's a beautiful patch of lupine, well captured. I prefer the composition in the first one.

However you choose to handle the color balance, it would be nice to be consistent if they were all taken in the same light.

In tricky light like that I prefer to dial in a precise color temperature, matching what I see with my eye to Image Review on the camera LCD. It's not exact, but provides a good starting point for later processing.

I envy you your location!

beautifully captured landscape. I tend to like a bit more contrast in the foreground so I might have added on a gradient dehaze/clarity filter in lightroom (or maybe bump it up if you did too). Makes me jealous such beautiful hikes are so accessible to you. Hope to see more in the future

#1 gets my vote. I especially like the leading lines of the stream. Jim

Wow stunning. I prefer #1 because of the stream. I like how it looks more like a path than a stream!

Nice shots of Park Meadows, 3 for me because it comes closest to showing how Three Fingered Jack looms over the area (although it still seems a bit diminished by the UWA perspective). Did you make the scramble up to the saddle above the lake? If not, check it out next time for some stunning views north and south.

Wonderful Wonderful.... I used to hike that area when Santiam Lodge was still a stop on the Pacific Crest Trail. Miss it very much your pics just hit me hard down memory lane today.

Hi Heron -

We did climb up the saddle and the views of Mt. Jefferson were great! I think next time I will camp up on that plateau to the east of the saddle. The lake was still frozen in but looked to be melting soon. This is from the saddle looking north.

Well thats a bomber of a sunset. Very cool. Think the 1st w the stream adds a bit extra. 2nd looks like the cloud far right is a bit hot and draws the eye but the color is great...i know that glow well. Nice stuff
