My 16-year old son and I traveled to Peru in late June, focusing on two primary adventures - a 4-day/3-night group trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and then 4-days/3-nights way upriver at lodges in the Tambopata National Reserve, along a tributary of the Amazon in eastern Peru. Figuring out how to organize photographically was a challenge, especially with the Inca Trail hike, but we managed to get all of our gear into carry-ons for the flights, and I got my camera kit down to about a 15lb pack, including backups. Backups were key in the end, as my main Sony A7r2 didn't survive the untimely rainy day on what would have been the best day of the trail.
Great trip overall, especially to watch my son love the hike so much. He did a nice job with photography as well, with his point-and-shoot, catching a lot of details I never saw.

Sunrise over the rainforest canopy from a 40m tower, 9-stop bracket with Rx1r2

First night on the trail was clear for a bit, wanted a shot like this with Inca Ruins on the 3rd night, wasn't to be with the weather

The last sunlit shot along the trail before the weather came in, a little below the highest pass, 10-stop ND

Out an airline window with my rx100iv, approaching Lima on the way back from the Amazon

Moody Machu Picchu, wish it had a little sunlight and fewer tourists - will clone them out someday
