A bit of variety from the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area. First up are Clapper Rails foraging for the birders out there. It's not easy to see them as they don't stay in the open long. For this photo they are is deep shadow with some dappled light so a real PITA as far as photographing them. I exposed for the sun, filled with flash and then brought out the shadows more in post. They were also very far away so a large crop.
