It may be obvious to some which lenses these are, but maybe not. Hint, 2 of the the three are not in my FM profile, so there! No peeking at my pbase account either! Any thoughts on the look of these lenses? In one shot, I missed focus, but I did not want to pester my long suffering wife any more. Just having a bit of fun and any comments/criticisms and/or guesses as to the lenses involved (one I think is obvious) welcome.

Then the second one was taken with GM 85mm and the first one with FE 50mm f/1.4.

Here is another try with the same lens as number two (more in focus):

Although the second lens' focal length is longer than the first, no, these are not correct. Also, all three pics were taken at the same location and within a couple of feet of each other. All hand held.

Any consensus favorite look of these three lenses for portraits?

wild guess but unless you were messing with the White balance, your second lens seems to be an adapted lens or maybe Samyang etc.
Sorry just guessing because I normally see that warmer color from them when AWB is set

I'd guess that the second shot is with a 135mm, so I'd say 135L The first lens comes from the Zeiss or Zony stable IMHO. Loxia 50? BTW, you have one beautiful wife, Stephen!

You are correct that the second lens is adapted. The WB was set by my clicking on the whites of her eyes, but that can be a bit irregular. I meant to use a gray card, but had not planned on doing a post here for the experts--just trying to inform myself as to the looks of the various lenses for portraits.

No one has a favorite? All lenses were wide open btw.

Good guesses, but no, both focal lengths are not quite right. Thx for your compliment. I had the good fortune of "marrying up" in the looks dept.

#3 is correct as was previously guessed. Second lens is adapted and neither 1 nor 2 are correct.

Ok, in number two the background is very blurred, so I am guessing an f/1.2 lens. Can I cheat and say Canon 85 f/1.2 and have that include both the FD and EF versions? I am guessing the first one is the Leica M 75 f/2 AA.

By the way my favourite here is the first one. Nice sharpness and quite pleasant bokeh. I like #3 the least well, but that may be the expression isn't quite as nice and #2 is a different framing that I don't like quite a much, so it is a bit difficult to judge what factors are influencing my preferences.

Well, I am gratified by all the guesses. Still no correct guesses for the first two. I will post these pics on the FE thread with the correct attributions (and slightly improved PP). Steve Spencer, I agree with your choice of #1 as the best of these tho I think all three are good portrait lenses tho perhaps again #1 is the easiest, most consistent choice.

Yes! First is GM 85 wide open. Big bokeh balls I thought would be the giveaway. As for the second, you are close. It is the Leica R apo 180/2.8.
