Captive, but still wild.

Some of the injured birds at the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre on Vancouver Island ( https://www.niwra.org ). Some injured birds can be rehabilitated and returned to the wild after they have recovered. Others have injures so serious that they can't be returned to the wild. Don't know what is worse for them, being euthanized or imprisoned for the rest of their lives.

1 - Golden Eagle

2 - Saker Falcon

3 - Peregrine Falcon

4 - Raven

5 - Bald Eagle

6 - another Bald Eagle

Nice set mate.
Even at f8 and f6.3, you were able to make those bars disappear..

Very nice Tony. I have thought the same thing. Wild animals should be free - I even got rid of my aquarium. But injured animals - I just don't know ~ Ron

Very artistic representation of captured birds - Hopefully people will be able to relate to the captured birds by being able to see their beauty up close and hopefully allow them to contribute to the cause of saving habitats for all birds

Excellent shots. Rehab clinics are a godsend to wildlife, but zoos are a paradox for me. On one hand the animals are certainly captive but on the other hand they're serving as ambassadors for their wild cousins, bringing attention and a personal face to all of us that won't see them in the wild. A slippery slope for sure... Mike

I can understand holding on to a bird that just can't fly. It stands almost no chance. But if the bird just can't fly well, I'd argue it should be given all the chances for a normal life and let nature take its course. That may include a special training for its hunting ability, but ultimately let nature and the bird decide how it lives and dies.
