p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Bighorn lambs, ewes, and rams of Colorado

The lambs and ewes were near the summit of Mount Evans just a few days after the road opened in June.

The lambs were just as cute and fun to watch as the mountain goat kids!

All shot with a Canon 7D mk2, Canon 500 f/4 mk2, and Canon 70-200 f/2.8 mk2.

The rams toward the end were in Rocky Mountain National Park. Unfortunately, these were a long distance away, shot using the 500 f/4 mk2 + 2x teleconverter in high wind and poor light, and considerably cropped. But it was fun to see them.

Cheers,
Hobbes

Great action shots! Lots of interesting and amusing frisky activity of the lambs, nicely caught. Same for the mock sparring of the rams and the shots of the ewes on the move with the lambs. You got them just in time before the moult.

One tiny suggestion: in just a few of the images the interesting "faces" of the romping lambs are the main feature, but are underexposed. Can these be selectively processed to be better exposed?

Hobbes,

Love the lambs ! Really enjoy the shots where they are running and jumping. (#17 & #20 are my favs). Bighorn in #22 from RMNP is a really neat shot. Well done set. Thanks for sharing.

Greg:

Thanks Greg! What happened with the running and jumping lambs was that more people eventually showed up and they got spooked. The moms were just behind them. That was the last I saw of the lambs.

Cheers,
Hobbes

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll a try a local exposure bump and see what I can do without making it look unnatural. Any more increase in global exposure will start blowing out the snow.

Cheers,
Hobbes
