Photographed the first two photos about 6 or 8 weeks ago. Cute bird but had no idea what it was. Leaning towards a Green Heron by process of elimination but was talking to another photographer and she mentioned the Green Heron at the entrance to the wetlands. Then there was MorrieC photo of three young Green Herons. So now I feel confident that this is a young Green Heron.
The last two images were photographed 3 or 4 weeks after the first two, when the young Green Herons were out and about, checking out their new world.

I really like your second image a lot! I like the pose (i.e., face profile) and detail in that image.

Nice shots Brian. If you're able to, go back to the same area in the mornings. Two years back I was lucky enough to be able to be able to watch four young green herons from when they first left the nest to adulthood. You'll see all kinds of interesting behavior, especially when the adult comes in with a fish.

Thanks, Keith, that one was a crop of one like the first, I was intrigued by the downy feathers and figured closer was better.

Thanks Reko, I do try to get there early for the chance of good light but often just can't get out of bed on time but thanks for the advice.
