What is the gift that comes with the Photo cross?
I love the Turnstile 20. I even bought a spare one (the original style).
I just bought the Photocross 13, as I need a little more room.
I usually carry 2 mirrorless cameras (Sony A6000 +A6300 or A7 ii) with 2 or 3 primes (Sigma 16mm, 30mm and a 50), + 1 or 2 small Godox flashes. Sometimes a MacBook Air 11" (incl drive and charger). I am amazed it can all fit in the TT 20, but it is a little tight.
The photo cross has a better way to open the main compartment, I really like the flap that opens away from the body and that has a compartment for batteries, filters etc. The bottle pocked is great, I can also use it for a flash, table tripod or small umbrella. I can also carry a small stand.
But it is a shame that they did away with the back compartment that I could use it for bounce flash reflectors, papers, documents. Also the rain cover does not seem to fit in a specific external pocket like the TT. I feel also that the padded shoulder strap of the TT is more comfortable and sits higher.
The old TT also has a clip that allows to undo the shoulder strap and allows to use it as a hip bag / fanny pack. Not sure why they removed this feature from the updated TT and the Photo cross.
The Turnstyle looks cleaner / more urban and may be better to take to an event.
The Photo cross looks nice, but looks more like a hiking backpack, less of a camera bag, so it may be better for those who travel and are worried to carry what looks like a camera bag.
At the end I wish TT / MS would make a hybrid bag between the TT / PC: large enough for a 13" laptop (I shoot for newspapers in NYC and sometimes I need to carry a MacBook to file the same day). Opening flap , water bottle pocket, handles like the photo cross. From the Turnstyle: padded strap (or maybe padding that can be attached with velcro) , document compartment on the back, clip on shoulder strap and ability to use it as a hip bag.
The Photo cross has a waist strap to secure it, but I'd prefer a compression strap that attaches to the chest part of the shoulder strap like many bike messenger bags.
I also like that the Turnstyle without the dividers can be flattened, so if I am traveling I can put it in my check in bag and carry my photo equipment in backpack and then use the TT for shooting on location. The Photocross does not fold as flat, but I could always take it with me as a personal item along with the backpack.
