p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · My cool wife at sunrise

Mornings are great out on the lake with smooth water beckoning. The lighting can be tough with the sun so low, but I've gotten some decent shots over the years so I still give it a try.

I love when my wife skis in her shades. Not to shabby for a lady in her 50's.

Nice action shots, but I want to see the shots of you skiing (that you typically post) with the background in perfect focus with some huge OOF blob in the foreground!!

CU of her face in #2 would be a great addition

Was this her first time being out in the sun? I thought she was about 40.

The third one isn't doing much for me because the shoreline is fairly blah and/or because the straight wake is fairly blah. Other two are much more exciting.

I know some people think this is too much "cheating," but I'd cheat the white balance on #2 so it'd match more closely with #1. Though #1 is still going to be the winner because more of her face is out of shadow.

Very nice. I love number 2, I always like the shots of the skier mid turn throwing up the spray the best, you sunlight on it is great. Some HSS flash fill would be awesome, unfortunately with the length of a ski rope, doubt it ever could be done. I ski on Lake Parker and in the past on Lake Tarpon, which lake was this?

Thanks for the comments. I've never tried flash for these. I think it would be tough with the length of the rope and the power provided with HSS.

My best photos have come in sweet light early or late in the day. I agree with the timing of the turn and spray. If everything comes together, the photos can be really nice. This one from a few years ago.

These were all taken up in Georgia in Callaway Gardens. We don't ski much locally anymore. Been an Lake Tarpon a bunch but have never been on Lake Parker.

Nice shot, and she has a great smile in it, obviously enjoying herself
