These were taken at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area on Long Island, NY this past Saturday morning. This was the day Steve described that we met and after discovering that we knew each other. We were dealing with a gray sky and a distant subject yet what I witnessed through my viewfinder was quite a site.

-1 The osprey is back in the air after taking a rest. That fish may have weighed more than the osprey.

After the willet passed, the male osprey settled down and ate the head and what not. In my next set he will arrive at the nest.

Super sharp sequence...you are better at PP, can you flatten the overcast sky so that is easier on the eyes?

I was interviewed on a radio show about Osprey Restoration in my area and the subject of payload came up and I gave the regular 1 to 3 pounds max and got stumped when they asked about the Scottish video of one flying off with a 5 pound trout. They are amazing birds and I'm glad Golden Eagles don't have upsized osprey wings.
