Beautiful is putting it mildly. That nest is huge. A lot of work raising those little babies. Thanks for what you do. Shirley

Great series. Keeps telling the story.

I love the last one showing the river. Love that country! Is that a poplar? I do not know the tree species there. that tree looks much smaller than I imagined your nest would be in. Have any idea how long that tree will hold up that weight year after year?

Spectacular country!

Robert

Thanks Robert....I'm not sure on what tree type that is. The nest has been there a long time. The tree is still alive so hopefully it will outlast this couple at least.

First wonderful images and thank you for displaying. I do agree with previous poster stating the depth of field on #7. If the adult would have been more in focus that would have been a stunner

Another great set of images! #1 is beautiful. #3 is stunning (i.e. I'm stunned).
I really appreciate you showing #8. It's a wonderful setting and it shows the ideal vantage point from which you are working.

Just wish I had gone back up this year. Each pictures is better or more interesting than the last. Thanks as always for taking the time to go there and then to post. No reply is necessary.

My wife loved the first one especially. Such detail.

The last one helped so much in my wife's understanding of where the nest is and how it is situated She had seen from the road the general area of the nest but now she was able to really see the nest area in great detail. You do live in a very special place. dan

These are great shots as always showing some of the day to day actions in the nest. I would love to be able to get that angle on a nest. The last shot gives a very good perspective of the location.

Little jealous still of the oppertunities you have there, and good to see you are taking them Love the DxII colors on #1 and feather details. Not sure about the birders fetish on the sh*tting image, i see more birders post such images. I rather drink my coffee black

Thanks to all for leaving a comment.
Bill....I can get about 20 feet away if I walk a little down the hill. The wide angle shot at 100mm I had to walk a bit back down the trail to even get that FOV.

Thanks. I understand that opinion of wanting the adult in focus. When the adult was in focus (around f/16-20) the image became too cluttered....sticks at rear all in focus. The adult was about 2-3 feet behind the eaglet and not interacting with it so that is why I went with the narrow DOF version to give more pop to the foreground eaglet.

Stunning stuff.
Agree 100% on your approach to #7! Too much DoF can kill a shot or at least turn a good shot into an ordinary one.
Great lens, that. Canon really pulled one out of the hat with the new 100-400 II.
