Harsh light but I enjoyed the compositions and vivid colours.

Thanks dankel

They look different on my computer than on here but that's the way it goes.

Beautiful shots of a beautiful place. I wish they were not so centered. Moving a few steps to the left for the first one would, I think, have made it more interesting and added a 3D appearance.

Hi Lynn,

In both #1 and #2 it seems like you didn't have a wide enough lens and made compromises that detract from the photos. In #1 not including the upper the upper left isn't too big of deal, but it gives an overall cramped feeling. Also the darkness of the trees at their tops and the brighter greens near the water makes it appear unreal to me.

For #2 there's no breathing room on the left peak and the right peak is just fully cut off. You've placed it so the tree is supposed to be the star of the show (and it is a very nice tree), but the red rocks being cut off the way they are makes it seem unintentional. I'm also unsure of the leading line of the log. It fits very well with the reflection, but I wish it wasn't there at all.

#3 is my favorite of the bunch, but I think it was a missed opportunity with the 3 strong verticals of the crack in the rock, the waterfall, and the tree. The tree is cut off, and rotating the camera right to include all its trunk in the frame would have improved it. The saturation on the blue is bit too strong and makes the water appear strange.

When I first looked at the images, I thought they were over sharpened. But, when I clicked on them and took a better look, they just seemed nice and crisp. I like the first two. I was there and got some similar feedback about the light, but, I think we take what we get and make the most of it. Which you did. I like the second with the log and the very clear reflections. I also like the perspective of the second with the water seemingly rushing right at you. So, well done! I think the third is just too bright for me and I am not sure why the water is blue. I don't think it has a great deal of potential as it seems pretty cluttered to me.

It's funny that you mention cramped that was what it was for the first two, not much room for doing anything other than what I did, I was using a 24 tilt shift lens I could have shifted up and made it show the top of the other peak but I didn't.

Your thoughts were nice and you felt what I had to do .... making the most with what we get.
