Not a portrait shooter ever, but I sometimes like to give it a go on myself. Set up a super crafty lighting setup that included a stool on top of another stool, textbooks, and a hamper.

This was my favorite of the shoot, the others ended up looking more straight forward, but this one turned out the way I had envisioned.

Thanks for looking and I am really looking for any critiques and comments you might have.

A very nice image, for sure. I'm not thrilled with the crop on the LHS. Personally, I think the key light is a bit harsh also. I would like to see it dialed back a bit or use of a diffuser.

I like your expression. Not a fan of nose jewelry, but hey I'm just old-fashioned.
