Hey Kee,

I like the idea of this, and I really like the sky with how its lit and the color. I like the color being reflected in the water. I like that the little bit of sand isn't showing in the lower left corner. What I do think it needs though is some more dynamic range in the sea stack and a bit in the cliffs in the background.

That's a hard shot to do there, shooting into the sun. It doesn't look like there are any lens flares, so that's good. Did you bracket when you shot to bring more detail out of the ground layer?

Jim

Hello Jim,

Good to have your detailed critic which I need. I didn't do bracketing. I think i can bring more detail at the cliffs in the background as well as the sea stack in the foreground. As soon as the sun came over the cliffs, there were lots of lens flares though.

I may end up converting this image to black & white. But still I need to work on detailing those two areas.

Question to everyone is "what software would be the best to convert color image to B/W? " Nik?

Thank you!

Kee

You could have avoided this issue by moving to the higher elevation on the left. The top of the stack would then be against the water and wouldn't intersect the Reynisfjall mountain.

Yes, Rajan, I realized that after I spent hours shooting at this location. I will try to shoot at the higher elevation.
Also a question to you Rajan is "Is it possible to go down to the water level?"

Thanks!

Yes, possible to go there, but I wouldn't advise getting too close. As you may know, there have been deaths at Reynisfjara with tourists being swept away. Those waters can be dangerous.

I meant to the level of the foreground rock of this image.

I have been to Reynisfjall black beach and went around the mountain when the tide was low. And I got some pictures.

Silver FX Pro 2 from Nik is probably the best that's out there for converting images to B&W.
