Nice Ben.

I might have preferred the sunrise light just touching the top of the butte, but that's just me.

There was a red haze in the east and the light was not very strong at first, it took me a while to see it. But everything was very red.

Nice imaging, Ben. Good to see you back out. Even though I know this feature's size, this image has an abstract quality that defies scale.

That's true Jeffery. I think I walked a mile from my truck to get here and it still only needed 57mm to fill the frame. It seemed to stay the same size the entire time. Next time I am going to start earlier and get closer.

Spent the night here and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop in the sand.

After the sun rose above the haze, the red was gone.

Very nice Ben! The contrast between your documentary shot and the photograph really shows what the nice light can do to showcase the beauty. It's a fairly low contrast image and I think it works very well as that.

I have been here before and not seen it this red, I think the haze filtered sunlight, maybe from dust did that.

My plans are indefinite except for a wedding in Walla Walla the first week of September. I could not believe the crowds when I was in southern Utah a year and a half ago. I am already too late to beat the crowds so I am considering going late in the Fall. I had even thought of making a reservation for Arches but it appears that the campground has been closed for the entire year.

When I visit, I will definitely walk up towards the butte and shoot from within the hummocks. BTW, that is a new word for me. I have camped at the butte twice and it was very peaceful. Unfortunately you never know. The area near the highway is obviously very popular for trail bikes. It seems that part of the excitement of a trail bike is to make as much noise as possible, not counting the destruction of the landscape.

Thanks Justin. I think they might have closed that off road park, I never see anyone there now. But the Canevill Road is packed with them for the first five miles.

I spent the first night at the Butte, the second at the Cathedral Valley CG and the last near the Temples. I have never seen so many people on that loop road. Spring break for some people I guess. Still it was just during the day, I had teh golden hours pretty much to myself. But no clouds after the butte.
