Between 2012-2014, I travelled regularly to Iqaluit, Nunavut to provide essential and often emergent dental surgery for children living on Baffin Island. We worked with a local GP anesthetist in Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqaluit. Children from remote communities on Baffin Island were flown into Iqaluit for dental surgery. In 40+ years of working in the North, the oral health in this region is the worse I have ever seen. Access to care for children is virtually zero and wait lists are enormous.
This image is a 12 image pano taken behind and above the hospital (lower right) at the large cross which adorns the hillside. On this particular day the wind was howling and the temperature was hovering around -35 Celsius, WITHOUT WINDCHILL.
The airstrip, about 10,000 feet long, was built by the US military during WWII and is visible in the upper right of the image. Airbus did its cold weather testing for A380 in Iqaluit.
Added a second panorama from a week of ski touring at Sorcerer Lodge. The light is harsh but I would welcome comments on the image regardless.
Comments and criticism welcome.
