I want that 40mm 1.2 badly. I love the 40mm f2 adapted to my A7r II, hopefully it has the same great rendering.

I'm interested to know the weight and bokeh of the 40 1.2. The link says 10 blade aperture and MFD of 40cm. I wonder if it will also come out on M mount which can offer close focus and AF capability on Sony with adapter. The link specifically said the 40mm would be compact.

Photorumors posted a link to this press release, in Japanese. Google translate does an ok-ish job with it.

I wonder, if Cosina will make an E mount version of the Voigtländer 21/1.8 VM later?

The 65/2 apo and the 40/1.2 asph look very interesting.

I don't think the 40/1.2 is that big, and I suppose that an AF 40/1.2 would be quite a bit larger.

Dammit just when I thought I couldn't get pulled back to an A7. I want this 35 is the min focus is something reasonable.

I didn't know, I could insert a pdf file in google translate, thanks!

It looks like the 40/1.2 asph is intended to be well corrected, and the 35/1.4 will be a character lens.

Yes mine too. When can i preorder the 40mm?

I doubt it will come in M mount. Difficult to make a fast lens that will work well on both sensor stacks. The slow wides were so slow they could get away with it.

How sharp should we expect the 40/1.2 to be wide open?

The 65/2 APO Macro will go nicely with my Leica R 100 APO Macro and 180/3.4 APO if it can beat my R 60 Macro... then a rereleased 125 APO Macro!

The 40/1.2 is interesting, much smaller than the 35/1.2, if the 40/1.2 is as good, it will be great fun!
On the other hand I do wish it was APO too, f2 would have been acceptable as well.

That 35/1.4 would be great for me, but looks like it's probably based on the current Nokton which is meh...

yes, the 35/1.4 will have some RSA.

This is from the English translation:

"Suitable for the name of classic, by intentionally letting the aberration remain moderately, in open, gentle"

I would have guessed not very. But they do seem to be making claims for its wide aperture homogeneity. As long as its good in fairly big central area and great across the field by f 4....

Yea, just a hunch (but a good one) that the 35 is an adapted 35/1.4, since it's not highly corrected wide open didn't change a ton. The 40/1.2 is probably an adapted 35/1.2 that got a bit longer when corrected for the Sony sensor stack. That would indeed be a pretty exciting lens.

Have you ever shot the 35/1.2? It's fun... Very useable wide open too.
