A shot can present itself at unlikeliest places. I was at the deck of a local bar and this bird perches on the railing. Luckily I had my camera on me with a 85mm lens. The bird was so close that it was enough.
Let me see if I have this right. I spend day after day hiking around nature preserves trying to get a decent shot of a night heron, and I get nothing. You are sitting in a bar, drinking beer (with your camera) and the bird shows up and poses for you. Do I have that right?

BTW, nice shot.
Dave
You got it! This is my first decent shot of the bird as well. My first visit to this bar also. I'm gonna stop hiking and get drunk all day and bring home the shots.

I normally don't lug my dslr around. I had brought it along to get some pictures of my motorcycle and this was a pleasant chance encounter.

Guess I'll have to spend more time in bars. Is there a PUI law in FL
You should. Just remember to keep the camera on auto and fire away
Glad to see another Florida FM'er. I travel to Tampa every once in a while for work. Should be there sometime in April. Let's see if I get a bird posing for me at a bar
