Really nice. Love the sky and clouds. Was this with a 14mm? Never mind, I saw the exif at the bottom...Was this a planned shot? Just wondering if you just stumbled upon it. Great photo! 👍🏻

Hey Todd . . . Thanks!

I live a short 1 minute walk to the lake. I get up in the morning and look out the window to see if it's worth going down. Once down there, I have a few vantage points which depends on the time of year (placement of sun on horizon), cloud formation and more.

This composition presented itself as the island could be nicely centered with the clouds symmetrically framing the island. So, it's not exactly planned but an assessment on whether to 1) walk down to the lake and 2) do an on the spot assessment for the best composition based on several factors, lens choice and more.

The colors are really nice, I like the comp with the ice in the foreground. My only thought is how much did you sharpen this photo in pp? It just seems really harsh? Overall a nice photo.

Thanks! I think the harshness is the result of my processing for posting here. It usually works quite well and is automated using a stepwise sharpening action/droplet for the size/dimension of the post. In this case, I agree with you. The original full size image doesn't appear nearly as harsh. This just proves that sharpening setting are not universal . . .
