I got the itch to head to our local Butterfly Glasshouse and so I did.............arrived only to find out they are closed on Monday's I had to pass up my favorite greenhouse on the way so with the sun being out I knew I would have some good light to give the florals another look!
It's funny how time passes by when you get involved in what you are doing when you enjoy it Here are some shots all with Canon 7DII, Tamron 180 macro on a tripod and all single shots no focus stacking. Always the challenge to find or create separation from clutter yet get enough important detail to hold attention.
I hope you find a few you appreciate, comments always welcomed, questions always answered. Thanks for your visits and your comments in case I don't get back to replying on all.
Nice set of florals Karl. I'm digging the way that Tammy is resolving on these. Have you used it on a full frame? Curious how far the brick wall is behind the slipper?
Beautifully done Karl with the first and third being my favorites....I would love to SEE what you do when you compose these....there is nothing contrived just well thought out and photographed.
Eric
Tim- thanks buddy
John- I too like your selections, thanks for the visit
Ron- I 'needed' practice It's not easy for me to focus on these little details anymore but I got this right. The last one just seems in harmony with color and the patterns from wall and flower seem to allow separation
KD- thanks kindly
Greg- I have used several copies of the Tamron 180, all have been great. I think a while back I shot some full frame with a 6D with one, it's an excellent lens for not much money IMO. Distance to wall maybe 1 1/2ft?
Birdie- Thanks and yes on Amaryllis
Rex- I appreciate the kind comments Rex, thank you!
Eric- it is definitely a little tricky shooting these to get a good possible comp. You know how your eyes become trained when you are out in nature to spot wildlife in hiding, well for me this is like the same thing only I am scanning for possible workable comp shots and then they just kind of jump out at me. Also knowing what things look like through the lens is helpful in knowing what can work. Trying to find enough subject in parallel to sensor is the biggest challenge for DOF and yet not having too much behind it be defined. Thanks for asking......... And the rest of comps is just knowing where to leave space in the image for PP cropping.
