p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Holy Cow There's a Ton of Snow in the Sierra!

Here are some shots from my trip this week up to the Sierra to ski (and have some business meetings, at night of course!). I hope you guys/gals are understanding, these were taken either with my phone (on the highway driving up), or with an oly p&s while skiing at Mt Rose. I've been going up there a long time, and do not recall ever seeing this much snow. I hope these give you a sense of what it is like up there. By the way, the skiing was superb!

Taken near Donner Summit on Rt 80, probably about 6500 feet....Note the road sign almost completely covered. These are big signs!

Heading down from the top, 9700 ft

Lots of snow and frost on the trees, pretty cold up there.

Taken at the lodge, first day it had opened in 2 weeks. Normally there are tables and chairs set up here!

Looking southeast towards Washoe Valley.

Last one, my 'artistic' shot of the sun popping out from behind this frosty tree.

Photo on the road was taken Monday morning, ski pics were taken Tuesday. I skied Monday and Tuesday, but there were more clouds Monday so I didn't bring my little camera with me.

The photos seem more like photojournalism then Landscape to me. And using a * in a vulgar word in a title doesn't make it any less coarse.

I'll change the title, didn't mean to offend anyone, surprised actually at your comment as my title was clearly in jest.

Thanks for posting these shots. Good to know what the driving conditions are up there now. I guess 4x4 is the way to go. Those trees covered in snow look great.....

W00t! Can't wait to get up in it with my new Nikon and Sigma gear. The first real winter in years.

I'm sure that with a 'real' camera and better skills than I have you can really come up with some good ones. Since I was skiing, I didn't feel comfortable bringing a dslr with me.

we are getting a ton of snow as well here in SLC. I think the resorts are at anywhere between 150-200% of normal snowfall depending on location. A big difference from the last few years!
