Upon the page loading my first reaction was "holy Sh!te". I mean that in the best possible way too. Rarely am I taken off guard by an image but this one done it! Well done Sir!

Thanks for the nice words. No GND on these two, all though I did use them quite a bit. The first shot I did bracket, because of the extreme dynamic range.

Totally cool you noticed that! No-one else has mentioned. That's one of my favorite elements of this photo as well!
Also, there's a cemetery, and brick foundations from a church or other type of structure. Lots of 'Easter Eggs' to be found. Thanks again for commenting.

These are wonderful. The first time I visited Scotland was in 2003, and I remember the light looking a lot like what you've captured here... these moments were short lived but magical in their austerity.

If this was your first trip to Scotland, it won't be your last. My wife was born in London and we get over to the UK every few years. We have made nine trips to the Highlands and plan another this summer. Pure magic is the only way I can describe that place. It gets inside your head. If you want another moving experience, take the ferry over to the Isle of Lewis and Harris next time. We spent a week there a few years back and were amazed at the remote beaches with clear blue water, rugged mountainsides, the Standing Stones of Callanish and wonderful people.

Beautiful images all. BTW, google Ian Lawson to see some stunning images of these islands as well as beautiful work in the Yorkshire Dales.
