Pending
Price: $1,990.00 Payment method: PayPal Item condition: 7 Shows considerable amount of use - More than average wear
Update: Last price drop before this wonderful lens goes to Ebay...
Up for sale is my older Canon 300 f/2.8L IS v.1 lens. I have recently acquired the 300L IS II as I have been shooting more wildlife and the investment became worth it. Otherwise I'd never sell this lens in a million years.
I've rated the lens as a 7 but I think that's a bit pessimistic. This lens is not in perfect condition by any means, however, the image quality is 100% as good as any other 300L IS. I've shot over 100k frames with this lens in sports, portraiture, landscape, wildlife, etc. and the images are magnificent. I've included an image from my last assignment with this lens this past football season to show what this lens is capable day in and day out.
I purchased this lens locally almost 2 years ago from a photographer for Ohio State. All of the imperfections were there when I purchased the lens and I have taken good care of it since and gotten tons of use with it. The date code is UV which indicates it is a 2007 lens.
Price includes ground shipping with insurance to CONUS. Please add 3% for regular Paypal. Established FMers preferred due to larger transaction. I will consider reasonable offers as well.
The sale includes:
-- Lens
-- Hood
-- Warranty card
-- Original box
-- Tripod Collar (broken)
-- Neck strap (unused)
Ok, now for disclosures:
-- The tripod collar is broken. The screw is stripped and I will include it in the sale but I would assume it is not working. This didn't bother me as I handhold my 300 but may be a problem for some. Canon still sells replacement collars and you may be able to find a 3rd party option or fix the existing collar which I will ship with the lens.
-- There is some kind of mark on the rear element. It is very small (1/32'' maybe?) , it is featured in the picture although admittedly it doesn't look nearly as bad as it does in that picture. It is not fungus as it has not grown/changed in any way while I've had the lens. I have not attempted to remove it as once I figured out that it did not impact image quality it no longer bothered me.
-- There are a few tiny hairline marks on the front element. I don't believe they are cleaning marks as they do not come off with a lens pen. They are difficult to see and impossible for me to photograph but if you look carefully you will see them.
-- The mount has a slight bend in one of the metal parts. It is also featured in the picture. This does not affect usage of the lens (autofocus, aperture, etc.) and the lens attaches 100% ok to the 5 Canon bodies I've used it with at various times. I've mounted/unmounted this lens hundreds of times with no issues.
-- Scratches on the distance scale window. The glass/plastic is still intact but they are there. I haven't manually focused this lens basically ever so this has not bothered me.
