Thanks. They only keep the road from the south entrance to the Rim Village open in the winter. Rim Drive is used as a skiing/snowshoeing route. Unlike Yellowstone, snowmobiles are prohibited, so there is nothing to disturb the peace and quiet once you get away from the parking lot.
