Leaving the house at a balmy 51 degrees, then as I was almost in town, it was 31. Dropped another 10 by the time I got to the trailhead. I'd seen the beginnings of the ice formations on Monday & was hoping there would still be some by Thursday. I wasn't lucky enough to find ones I could shoot standing up in order to eliminate the background, so I was on my belly on the ice since even at it's lowest, the tripod was still too high to make it a clean shot, so hands and camera were in a pool of ice melt. The next formation I tried to shoot collapsed as I was focusing. Did you know you could jump while lying prone? I took the hint & packed up and looked for another location.
