Hi Eric,

This is a terrific photo. For some Seeing the had may be too gruesome and a crop that takes the head off the bottom would still show enough of the neck and pattern on it to let people know it's a giraffe.

You may be right...often I try to mute the image...but sometimes the shock value is part of the story.

The caption tells all-a fox is the secretary of the chicken house!

The kill looks like a few days old. You got a fine shot in a time, I assume, was stinky.

Thanks Karl...the drought must have really weakened the giraffe population...we saw two that had been taken by lions...a lot more difficult to see than a buffalo or gnu.

Thanks KD...it is of course, life and death in the African bush....maybe hard to look at but nature is neither cruel nor benevolent...it just continues on and on.
