Spent most of the morning in the hide but was finally able to get a shot of the cardinal without the bossy mockingbird interfering.

The trick to these guys is to keep the red channel from saturating and still get detail in the black areas. You have done both. Nice work!

Hi Jim,

The eye is nice and sharp. The previous photo had more feather detail, this looks a bit smeared as if noise reduction was too aggressive.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions I appreciate them all. Looking back Morris maybe I used to much of the Imagenomic noiseware.

Awesome Cardinal shot! One of the more stunning birds we don't have out here.

This would be a relatively easy one to do different levels of noise reduction on the bird/branch and background if you wanted to recover some of the feather detail and smooth the background even more.
