This was my first trip to WP. It was a sensory overload in every sense of the mind.

What Mark said. This is pretty amazing. I have a similar comp, but you had much better conditions. Really fantastic.

Dave, you captured the essence of the place very well. And the sky was very cooperative.

The textures and tonal variation is very cool, I have to add this to my list of places to go. Thanks for sharing.

White Pocket is a strange, weird, mysterious, yet beautiful and fascinating place with photo opportunities at every turn. Think that you did very well and should be proud.

Nice work here Dave,

I like the lines in this and those subtle colors. Have you thought about a B&W for this?

Jim

Thanks Don. I finding out more and more the value of investing in learning PS. I still have a ways to go but then that's part of the fun - so much to learn!

Thanks Again!

Dave - the b&w is nice - but I think it could use a bit more contrast in the different rock layers (just my opinion). Love the color.

I'm thinking definitely next August for monsoon season - I did upgrade the tires on the RR - so I got that going for me.....

Dave, what I love about your colour image is that you have resisted the temptation to push the colour and saturation. Whilst I'm sure that would look fine, the subtle tones in this work so much better and are quite unique.

the B&W is nice, but it lost the color variations that made the color version appealing to me...I think the B&W could be edited in such a way to pull that out, but for my eye, the color will always win out on this one.

Thanks Andrew. Glad you like it. In most cases I believe that reds in particular is a color (or colour) that responds better pulled back a little. Dave

Thanks Travis. Color is my favorite (and a big enough challenge already!). Although I shot a lot of B/W film years ago I just had not taken the time to learn the subtleties of color filters on b/w processing. For me - most of my attempts at B/W seem too harsh or too washed out. Dave
