Just got back, decent numbers of Cranes and lots of Northern Pintails. Grain fields on the Farm loop are cut close and the brush has been cut down better than in years past. Not too many people. Definitely a good time to go.

I just got back from spending 4 days at BDA on Saturday, I agree with Dave on the number of birds and the condition of the reserve. Not a lot of people. The weather could have been colder, which in my mind is better for shooting the cranes in the morning when they have to break out of the ice and then when they come around and try landing it's a real hoot. Great time to go is right now.

Good to hear things are still looking good even with news like this out there... Thousands of geese die after landing in toxic US water.

Lots of Pintails to be sure, and we had some great looks during my workshop. Here are a couple of my favorite frames from last week. All were shot hand held with a 600mm and a 1.4x. Most were taken with the 5D4 and a couple with the 1Dx2.

I well remember the huge hole-in-the-ground created by Anaconda Mining back in the 60s when I drove through those areas.
