Combining low light conditions and birds that refuse to come close, provides for challenging captures. I don't like to go over 1600 ISO with the 7DII, and even that at wide open wasn't providing fast enough shutter speeds yesterday.

It's interesting how some birds are very shy. I found that the female Hooded Mergansers are less shy than the males for some reason.

(500 f/4 & 1.4 III extender)
