This green hermit hummingbird approached the stalk of banana flower the conventional way first. In a split second it changed its mind. Instead of hovering to be able to get to the nectar, it just landed on the top and did it that way. Why spend all the energy flapping your wings really fast to hover while it could be done a different way, huh? What a smart fella !
Captured at Cafe Colibri in Cinchona, which is perched on a slope and the smooth backdrop is the opposite site of the other slope 1-2 miles away and there is a valley in-between.
Thank you for looking,
Joshua
A more conventional approach
Well, that's a very smart way of feeding
Looking up triumphantly - I did it!
