I've got the Sigma, which I'm currently using on an A99v. However, looking forward to the A99ii, I'm wondering if it might be worth swapping it for the Sony SAL35F14G, given that the Sony supports the hybrid AF features, while the Sigma does not.

I don't mind that the Sony is screw-drive.

Anyone have experience with both lenses? Thoughts?

I don't have experience with both, but did read tons of reports and reviews a few years back. The SAL is not a patch on the Sigma; not as good as the Mk1 Canon.

The a-mount 35 1.4 is a rebadged Minolta (may be with updated coatings?). It seriously depends on what you want to do with the lens. From everything I've read, if you demand sharpness, the Sigma fits the bill. Some people don't like the rendering, though. The Minolta/Sony 35 1.4 seems to be more of an acquired taste. People like it for flattering portraits (close to) wide open and for the way it renders (classic Minolta G). I doubt the lens would fare well with test charts, however over at dyxum it has many fans. It might be worth checking out the reviews.

Yeah, that's what I've gathered. Guess I'll stick with the Sigma and see how it performs on the A99ii (if/when it ever comes.)

From what I understand (no personal experience) the sony/minolta really shines as a portrait lens with its floating element but as you move to infinity, it loses its charm.
