FM Members,

I'd love to spend some time this year photographing Osprey. I'd love to hear some good locations and times of the year in the US and Canada that provide a lot of behaviors like perching, fishing, nesting, etc.

If you have any pics from the areas, that would be great to see.

They are all over in the city of Bend Oregon with many poles for nesting erected.

Apparently there is one (some) at the Pitt Addison marsh in Maple Ridge, BC Canada. A friend and i were trying to go and photograph them but we were never able to find a time that worked for both of us.

One place I have always read about and seen videos from is Blue Cypress Lake , FL. It is on my wish list.
Here are a few links from google:
One link I know is for a workshop, no affiliation, just so you can see some of the shots.

I also recommend Blue Cypress Lake in FL. Plenty of osprey on a beautiful lake.

Hi Matt,

Osprey chick's first flight taken at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area on Long Island, NY July 17, 2015

The nest building starts in April, the chicks are born in May or June and first flight is mid july. I have not had much luck getting fishing photos here, the nest and flight photos are great. Lots of other birds in the preserve and the wonderful Nickerson Beach is across the bay.
