This past weekend, a group of friends and I took a backpacking trip to the Havasupai Indian Reservation to visit the beautiful blue waterfalls. 28 miles total with about 2200 feet of elevation. I had a 50 lbs pack including my D800E, 24-70/2.8G, and CF tripod. It was seriously unreal with the orange canyon walls, bright green foliage, and turquoise water.

1st three may need top of the fall from which water is falling,
then it would be great piece of work, IMHO
last one is good composition
all of them good color saturation

Hi Paul,

#1 and 3 are my favorites. I think they all are just slightly too saturated, I would pull a on that just a little bit. That is a place of rich colors indeed, so it's easy to let them pop a bit too much.

How come you guys didn't fly in on the helicopter? I backpack all the time myself, but to be able to take a short helicopter ride in was for me one of the highlights of my visit.

Thanks junglialoh, I do have a couple compositions with the falls in view but the trees in front block most of the view and I could not find a composition where both the falls and the cascades were in view. Appreciate it!

Jim, thanks for the tip on the saturation. I will pull them back a bit I think. We didn't come in on helicopter because I was part of a group of 16 and the rides are somewhat expensive. We also wanted to feel like we "accomplished" Havasupai by doing it the hard way. I am sure a helicopter ride would be a lot of fun though!

Here's one with the full falls behind the cascades. I invite your opinions though but I felt like it distracted from the subject to have the falls in the background. It just wasn't good enough of a view beyond the trees and I was already standing on a cliff edge to get as much waterfall in view as possible. This was shot in the evening instead of the morning for the other one.
