I'll be traveling shortly and would really like to include myself in at least some of my shots. I'll have a tripod so that part is taken care of.

I have a 5D Mark III so no wifi support. I do have a pair of wireless triggers that COULD also be used to trigger the camera. Might suck trying to figure out/guess if the shot was ACTUALLY taken or not, though.

Framing and focus being my top concerns, I wonder if I'd be able to do them without going crazy. I think the more basic ones where it's a wider shot and I can go stand/sit on a rock type of thing, but otherwise framing nicely in the scene, aligning with horizon, etc. sounds much tougher!

Is there a way I might be able to accomplish this with my 5D3? Am I crazy for attempting?

well you can always use the timer @ 9sec. Focus will be the issue unless you can manual focus on something at the same distance and plane.

^^ Yes, this is what I do - self-timer and manual pre-focus.

am I alone in wishing this fad would go away already...it was sorta interesting when the first ones started to show up...there was some thought provoking images that featured the photog...maybe a story was told...but now it seems to be what everyone is doing and doing it just to do it....
