I recently finished processing these images from Bolsa Chica Ecological Preserve in Huntington Beach, CA in late August. I'm posting primarily to see if anyone else has seen a Great Blue Heron in this "pose", but I'll share a few "bonus" images that I hope folks will enjoy.

I've never seen a Great Blue Heron in this pose before. Has anyone else?

Very nice set. I think all herons and egrets do this from time to time. I suspect they are warming or drying.

Very nice set. I have seen this pose. I have read that the theories are they are either trying to cool off or sunning themselves , using the sun to help kill parasites.
