I have a pied-billed grebe and a female bufflehead that like to hang out together all the time. Not sure what mutually beneficial arrangement this is, but I've seen it on multiple days.

Yes, indeed. I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for a wildlife zoom lens. The IS is excellent on it as well which no doubt contributes to its performance.
