In the nearly 3 days of the workshop, we hit up 10 waterfalls. Courthouse Falls is a pretty cool waterfall, near a geological feature called the Devil's Courthouse. The hike isn't that difficult, although it is pretty steep. The plunge pool is pretty deep and I hear that people jump from the upper falls into the pool, about 45 feet below. Not me. Anyways, it was an enjoyable location. While we were there, we would get occasional drops of leaves and they would pretty quickly make way from the plunge pool to the exit stream. I'm standing in the exit stream for one of the images and with a slower SS, I was able to capture the movement of the leaves through the exit stream. Hope you enjoy these. As always any suggestions, comments are appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey Jim,

#2 is my favorite if these, though I would tone down the brightness of the leaves in the lower left. #1 is nice too, though that 1 red leaf seems to stick out since everything else is still green in the scene.

That looks like a wonderful area.

Jim

Thanks Jim F. I hadn't even noticed that brightness, yet when you mentioned it, I couldn't help but not notice it. Bothered me. So I went back in and did a minor edit. Noticed that I hadn't worked on the midtones, so I lowered them a little and then did some dodging. Here is a redo:

Thanks! I had a lot of fun on the workshop. And enjoyed visiting all the different places.

Beautiful waterfalls with turing Fall colors. I like the re-do version of the waterfalls.

We were there too early last week. Looks like you got this waterfalls on Friday when it has rained.

Thanks LSE. I was actually here before you. Just pops of color here and there. Would love to be closer, so I could visit more often.

These are both really nice. I've actually never been to Courthouse Falls even though I live less than an hour away.

Well then, you need to go. Flow is down quite a bit and I would imagine that the fall colors ought to be peaking or maybe just past peak. I'd be there if I could. And there is a lot of good stuff all around there

Very nice images! I like your edit work on the second shot. Nicely done.

I was up near there Friday afternoon. Everyone had on heavy winter jackets, hats/ear muffs and gloves. I was wearing a light jacket and shorts with wet sandals. When I got back in the truck to head home I noticed it was 37 degs!
No wonder I couldn't feel my toes.

It's funny how sometimes we won't notice something until it's pointed out, and then no matter how small that spot is, it will bug the heck out of us.

The edit looks great! Definitely, it's my favorite.

I like #2 best as well, especially the modified version. On #1, my eye keeps going back and forth between the red leaf and the falls, both of which are nicely captured, without registering much else.

Nice work, Jim. I was there in Spring 2015 (and once years ago). Flow is better in Spring, but I prefer Fall color.

BTW, for more than a taste of Colorado Fall color, check out my blog (http://stanstravelogues.blogspot.com/). If you plan a trip to Colorado next Fall, I'll be pleased to show you around.

Thanks a lot Stan. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Never been to Colorado, but I definitely want to go in the fall.

Jim, nice light and like the second one best. I have been to that waterfall a couple of times and the water flow in your shot is really low. We need rain badly.
