If so - did you send in to Sony for repair or did you purchase the LCD and do it yourself? If DYI - how did it go?

Thanks.

As luck would have it - had both a new a7sii and a7rii in my camera bag and after getting to my shoot the back of the a7sii lcd got all kinds of scratched up presumably from tripod plate mounted on the bottom of the a7rii. Anyway - it works but I'm so AR that I feel like I have to get it fixed. Sony USA repair place (can't remember the name of the company) said it would be $325 or so... I can live with it for that price but I thought I found some on sale on ebay or somewhere for around $50 or so and thought it might be worth trying to do it myself it its pretty much straight forward...

If it just surface scratches, you may be able to peel the anti-reflective film off and it will be as good as new.

I've done it on the original A7s/A7r and it wasn't terribly difficult. I haven't done it on the A7sii/A7rii yet but I don't imagine it much different.

I sent mine (A7R) to Sony Canada (who farmed it out to a third party, as Sony doesn't do their own repairs). It took a little over two months and cost about $400.

I had both my A7rII and A7s LCD replaced by a local camera specialist at a cost of 200 AUD each. He ordered in the parts from Sony Singapore and it took 2 weeks to arrive. Sony Australia does not keep stock in Australia of these items. We then organized a time and he fitted both on them within a few hours, same day. There is an issue with the LCD cover that the bottom of the LCD seems to degrade after about 1 or 2 years if you do not have a protective cover. The down time was a matter of few hours

I would not attempt to replace it your self as it can be a nightmare if you damage the flex wiring. Even the technician had one failed attempt as it is so easy to pinch the wiring.

That's not too bad a price - be curious to know the shop name ( have PM'd you ). So many of the Sony A7S + A7Sii screens have been beaten up! Have everyones A7III + A7RIII screens had better protection ?? It's like some protective film / plastic they are using, hopefully they use a more robust material / glass in the future !

I have a similar issue with my A7Rii. It looks like scratches, but I am pretty sure it is the film delaminating from the glass behind.
I have had my newer A7Riii for a while now, and it is not doing this.

Unless you've scratched all the way through the anti-glare covering, it's a simple thing to replace the cover yourself.
