Whilst it is the crocodiles that strike fear in the hearts of the crossing wildebeest, zebra and gazelles it is often the flowing river and the stacking up of bodies on the river bank which ultimately leads to drowning that does in most of the animals that do not survive the crossings.

Is that at the Mara river, Eric? Great capture, the anxiety of the animals is palpable.

What a thrill it must have been to see that close up! Love that you caught the zebras as well.

thanks Geoff....unfortunately a still photo whilst it can give some idea of the event doesn't come close to the sensory experience one gets seeing this in person.

Thanks Fred....it is one of the great wildlife experience one can have...the sights, sounds, smells and anticipation of what will happen during the crossing is unlike anything else I've done anywhere.

What did the Wildebeast do to those Zebra that made them chase said Wildebeast acros the river?

Thanks everyone...the migration and its crossings are something to behold. If one is lucky and is present for one of the massive ones the sensory overload is something never forgets.

Great Image Eric. Looks so good in black and white. I did see river crossing when I was in Serengeti a few weeks ago, but not as intense. Great event to witness. The other side of this is the amount of 4x4s rushing to the banks of Mara River to capture this event. Almost worthy of capturing it.
Tanzania is great.
