Well, I have the new TAP LM-EA9 adapter in hands and I really like what I see so far. I will start a new thread with more thoughts on it soon.
Most of the issues I had with the previous EA7 seem to be resolved. There will be no more wobble since there are actually 4 motors and the unit goes back and forward with the same amount of support. There is still noise when AF is working but it's way more tolerable now...meaning it's not high pitch. The new adapter is all metal and it feels more sturdy than

Did you try it with the Leica 90AA, Fred?

I have not but could give it a try today. The lens is compatible with the new EA9 since the weight is 500 grams.
Usually telephoto lenses on the tap require a pre-focus.

@genji,
I've tried the 90AA on the new LM-EA9 adapter and it works just fine. I was wondering if this FAQ could be slightly modified to the new adapter since most of the information here is still relevant. Perhaps I can copy and paste it to a new thread and only remove the unrelated information. Thoughts?

I vote for copying and modifying the relevant information.

I prefer some separation of concerns related to different products. Makes it for a clearer and easier discussion.

Starting a new thread containing the relevant information from this thread (and then archiving this one) seems like the best course of action to me, Fred. As long as you donít mind doing it! Iím still undecided as to whether Iíll get an LA-EA9 since the only lenses Iíd be likely to use with it are the 90AA and possibly the Tele-Elmar-M 135 which is about the same weight. Forum member @DavidBM has preordered one from Techart and, once it arrives, Iíll be able to check it out the next time we meet for lunch or coffee.

Do I understand right after reading this thread that the LM-EA7 will most likely not autofocus properly on my A7R II with the Leica Elmarit-R 28mm f2.8 mounted via an adapter, as this particular lens has a floating element?

It's been a while since I owned both that lens and adapter but I could have sworn it worked just fine.

Wow, that is good to know, even though I can hear you are not quite sure, thanks for mentioning this. It is a great lens but may not work so well for this particular application?

Meanwhile, I have come across the positive report in the following thread of using the Techart Pro adapter with a Leica lens (albeit a different one) with floating element.

https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/260021-autofocus-m-lenses-on-sony-a7r2-with-techart-pro-lm-ea7-adapter/

So seems like to focus this and similar lenses with floating element, you have to first do a ballpark manual focus, to get the lens with floating element in roughly the right position, THEN have the Techart Pro autofocus to get a precise result, right (or wrong)?

I use the adapter with a lens with floating element (ZM35/1.4). It works well even if I leave it at infinity, but there's more CA than usual. If I want best quality, I manual focus as effectively I can on my subject and then let the adapter find the best focus.

Super 👍 sounds like the adapter is good at what is designed to do - despite being a bit wobbly.

Heyho,
I just got the A7c and want to try out the LM-EA7. Unfortunately the links to the Android software and new 7.0 firmware are all dead. Does anyone know where to get them?

The Techart tcx-01 adapter for EF Canon lenses to Hasselblad X series works very well with my EF lenses, but I would like to use a Zeiss Distagon 21mm with it. The electronic shutter refuses to actuate. Any ideas?

One thing i still don't understand.
What's the meaning of the max aperture one can enter editing the fields of the various f/stops using the Android Bluetooth config app.
One practical example: I edited the f/11 field to f/1.8-55mm (replacing the default value of 3.5/15mm).
Wha's the practical use of entering the max aperture, when the EXIF still shows f/2 ?
When the actual aperture of the lens is less than f/2 I can enter a slower value, compensate dialling a minus compensation with the wheel, and see the real aperture value in the EXIF (still keeping a correct exposure).
With an 1.8/55mm lens, I cannot do the same, cause the camera doesn't allow me to set an aperture larger than f/2.
I remember that at one time I have seen faster values available, but once memorised the new settings (set the camera aperture to f/11, taken one image, shut down the camera setting to f/2 after restart) any lower value is not available anymore.
The only answer I can think of is that the adapter is seen as a 2/40mm lens, so larger apertures are not available. Then what's the use of entering a wider aperture using the config app?
I guess I'm missing something...
Please enlighten me :-)
