That seems pretty clear to me. No need to deal with B&H, just contact Techart and organize a replacement.

If B&H has them in stock, you'll get a faster replacement through them, IMO.

Yes, well, B&H is closed for a week per their voicemail and I cannot even email customer service. I have written to Techart and no response so far. Just lovely.....

They're on a ~14 hrs time zone differential from you, so they probably haven't even seen it yet. I'd plan to wait a day or two for a reply.

Edit - I'm an idiot. It's an FL mount, which I read should be the same as one of the FD variants, assuming that's accurate.

PSA - I picked up a Leicaist branded FD-LM adapter from eBay seller crazyphoto800.

It arrived today, but the design isn't correct for my FD lens, so it won't mount.
It looks like the adapter is too shallow, on the Canon side, for the proper fitment. The manual adapter that works, is much deeper on that side.
I've read that there are two slightly different FD mounts, so maybe mine can't be adapted?

In the event that anyone is looking for a TAP FD -> LM adapter, I might consider another seller, should your lens be like mine.

I just saw that Techart is offering an FD adapter now. Might give it a try, but I should probably contact them first, to see if it will work with my FD lens.

See pics, for details.

My style FL mount

The one TechArt sells is Leicaist; so unless there's something wrong with yours, you are out of luck.

I'm surprised, though, that your lens doesn't work. FD adapters I have work on both the breech lock FD and new FD. But those who know more about FL and FD Canons might be able to tell us what's going on.

Fantastic work / information documenting this Genji. I'm off to buy one this week.

BTW this seems very similar to the way the Pentax AFA x2.0 TC works with Pentax MF lens. Add the adapter and start to manually focus, when close to focus it takes over and slams into focus extremely fast. This method of focusing is easily as fast as a Nikon exotic with a x2 adapter, when you are used to the method. That is they are both very fast.

Hi folks,
after I got the A7II (I bought the TAP with FW4 a few weeks before :-) ), I had some very successful shootings during the last few days with some Leica M lenses (e.g. the 50mm APO Summicron and the 50mm 0.95 Noctilux).
I found the system very good, no hang ups of the A7II camera or other problems.
Focussing is spot on, even with the 0.95 Noctilux.

Today I have received a Nikon to LeicaM adapter, so I was eager to see if this would function as good as with the Leica lenses.
The adapter is a F&F L/M type.
Mechanically it fits perfectly together.
Is there a possibility to change the aperture setting of e.g. an AF-S Nikkor 50mm 1:1,8G lens, or can I only use Nikkor lenses where the aperture van be changed manually?
I had a look here on the 2 TECHARTPro threads but did not find the answer I was looking for.
Thanks for providing ma an answer.

John

Thanks for the reference to the Commlite adapter.
Does your answer mean that I cannot use the modern Nikkor lenses on the TAP with aperture control?
Trying the avoid further purchases and using the already available lenses with the TAP :-)

Well John, I have not found an Nikon F to Leica M adapter with aperture control yet that doesn't interfere with the protruding part of the TAP motor. Please, let me know if you find one that works. Older Nikkor lenses with aperture control work fine with the TAP and the Leicaist F to M adapter.

The Commlite adapter works very differently from the TAP. It utilizes the built in motor of the AF-S lenses to focus. Older Nikkor lenses don't have such a motor and depend on the one in the camera or the TAP.

K-H.

Just got a Yeenon QBM to M adapter and works. I'm using it with Carl Zeiss 35/1.4 Distagon HFT (Rollei QBM mount). Was using it with a QBM to Canon EOS > Canon EOS to M before. Not sure if you want to add this to list since not many uses QBM mount lens .. i dont think

For what it's worth, I tried an Canon FL 55 on my regular adapter and it was a no go. Seemed to be a shroud on the lens that interfered, clearances weren't quite the same even though the bayonet is. I'd guess that's the problem. I have the Leicaist FD now, I can verify next time I go to the camera shop.

To the contrary, all mounts are welcome! I've added the Yeenon QBM->M adapter to the FAQ.

As soon as I read that you're using the Distagon HFT 35/1.4 in QBM mount I recalled that Anden, who started The official Zeiss 35/1.4 thread, at one stage had the Contax C/Y as well as the Rollei QBM version. The QBM 35/1.4 has a triangular aperture, doesn't it? I have the Contax version and I doubt I'd ever sell it.

I'll never forget that when someone asked him how it compared to the Canon EF 35/1.4L, Anden replied: "The 35L has AF. The Zeiss has the rest."

Yes indeed! I had the 35L at one point in time many years ago and feel the same way. The QBM has the triangular aperture which can get you the triangle bokeh between F2.8 and beyond. Not everyones cup of tea but I like it for its uniqueness. Awesome lens though, one of my fav 35s

Just a quick update on mine. It seems my adapter has failed. It now acts as just a "dumb" adapter and it allows me to manually focus but will not even allow me to select autofocus on the camera anymore and makes no attempt to autofocus. It does mechanically seem okay and moves in and out on startup but then does nothing after that. I have powered off and on, replaced the battery, reinstalled firmware twice (am trying it a third time as I type this) taken pictures on F32 (per techart's instruction), tried different lenses, all to no avail. I am in contact with someone at Techart who has asked me a number of questions about my settings and lenses used and such but thus far has not authorized a return of the adapter and seems to be skeptical of my claims, tho I am at a loss as to what I might have to gain by seeking an exchange. At any rate, I will be interested to see whether the company honors its warranty and how many hoops it makes me jump through in the process.

It's disappointing that your request for a return authorization is being treated with skepticism. If I were in your situation I'd send a PM to the Techart representative who has posted multiple times as FM member techartpro. Currently, the most recent post in the Techart PRO AF adapter now In Stock! thread is by techartpro.

Already done. They have now said I can return it to Hong Kong but I am wanting to send it to their US warehouse as their website says I can and am now waiting for them to get back to me.

Thanks for the all the great information!

I can add that the K&F L/R - L/M adapter works fine with TAP.

I'm curious what solutions other users have found for a quick release plate. The several L-brackets listed may not interfere with the TAP but do any provide enough clearance to allow for clamping to a tripod head? I've asked Techart and am waiting on a reply about their L-bracket.

Yes +1 the L bracket LB-A7M2 is no longer a Quick release, For landscape less than 2cm/1" on the side to slide in, then the other side has the hand grip. The Bracket ends just short <1 mm before the TAP with a gap of 2-3mm, so any L bracket to work, would need to be considerably deeper or offset backwards on the camera. Now moving backwards would bump into the Camera tripod thread at about the same time it protruded the thickness of a protective screen beyond the rear display.

So unless any current L bracket works the engineering of this looks very tricky.

Vertical is not compromised but turning the tripod to Portrait to get Landscape is not a precise art on my ball heads.
